President Trump Withdraws the US from WHO

By The Blog Source

Since 1948, the United States has been a founding member of the WHO. President Donald J. Trump has pulled the United States out of the World Health Organization (WHO), marking a significant move toward national sovereignty. The process was started by an executive order signed by President Trump on his first day back in office, marking a dramatic change in U.S. foreign policy.

Globalist organizations will now find it far more difficult to plan, direct, and benefit from a global pandemic response, such as to the H5N1 influenza bird flu, thereby preserving individual liberty and state sovereignty.

The directive calls for a halt to future transfers of US government monies to the WHO, the recall and reassignment of US personnel involved with the organization, and the identification of alternative partners to take over duties formerly conducted by the WHO.

This is the second time in less than five years that Trump has distanced the United States from the WHO. In 2021, President Biden reversed his prior attempt from 2020.

The 2020 withdrawal attempt was the result of the organization's failure to adopt urgently needed reforms, its inability to demonstrate independence from the inappropriate political influence of WHO member states, and its mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic that arose out of Wuhan, China, and other global health crises, according to Trump's new executive order (EO).

However, the EO also stated that the WHO "continues to demand unjustly onerous payments from the United States, which are significantly higher than the assessed payments of other countries." China, which has a population of 1.4 billion, has 300 percent the population of the United States, yet it contributes roughly 90 percent less to the World Health Organization.

In a post on X (Twitter), the WHO has conveyed regret over the announcement and requested that the U.S. "reconsider."

While signing the order from behind his White House desk, President Trump provided additional details regarding the withdrawal decision:

In May of last year, Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen, in conjunction with a coalition of 21 other state attorneys general, expressed his opposition to proposed agreements that could have substantially increased the World Health Organization's influence over U.S. public health policies.

Their main worry, as they voiced in a letter to then-President Joe Biden, was that these deals may change the World Health Organization's International Health Regulations and create a new "Pandemic Agreement," giving the WHO potentially unchecked authority.

This might have given the Who is Director-General the authority to unilaterally declare public health emergencies, violating American sovereignty and citizens' rights to privacy and free speech.

President Trump's decision to leave the WHO demonstrates his strong support for national sovereignty and echoes senators' and state attorneys general's complaints about the organization's ineffectiveness and overreach, especially when it comes to how it handles international health emergencies.

The ambitious action emphasizes domestic authority over public health decisions and represents a substantial reorientation of U.S. foreign health policy.
