Zuck Bucks Banned from Elections As 20 States Draft Legislation to End Private Funding in Elections
Despite the fact that at least 20 states have enforced legislation to ban the use of private funding into elections, D.C.-based conservative nonprofit think tank, Capital Research Center (CRC) released an analysis which showed that private funding to assist with elections operations “gained steam in the 2020 presidential election at the height of the pandemic,” according to a Just the News report.
The report noted: “The chief culprit was Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who poured $350 million into one sleepy nonprofit, the Center for Technology and Civic Life (CTCL). Grants were distributed to hundreds of county and city elections officials in 47 states and the District of Columbia.”
It appears that it wasn't too difficult to buy an election as Alabama was reported to have received $2.45 million, Georgia received $45 million, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin received $25 million and $10.1 million, respectively from CTCL. CTCL claimed that its grants were strictly for COVID-19 relief but according to the CRC report the data shows otherwise.
Republican Gov. Kay Ivey, who signed HB194 into law in April, said she believes it will ensure Alabama continues to have free and safe elections.
“In Alabama, we are committed to ensuring the integrity of our election process remains second to none,” Ivey said in a statement at the time of signing. “Big tech’s efforts to undermine the integrity of our elections has no place in our country, and I’m proud to have signed legislation that ensures Alabama’s election process remains air-tight.”
It’s great that Gov. Ivey created legislation to combat Big tech’s abuse of the voting system but when are we going to see some serious accountability or criminal charges?
