Elon Musk Exposes Wasteful Federal Government Spending on  $1 Billion Survey

During his appearance on Fox News' "Special Report with Bret Baier," Elon Musk shocked viewers by stating bluntly how the federal government has been misusing taxpayer funds for years. Musk cited one instance of breathtaking excess: a 10-question survey that came with an eye-popping price tag. Musk was appointed by President Donald Trump to spearhead a federal cost-cutting program through the recently established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

According to Elon Musk, the federal government spent about $1 billion on a 10-question online survey. Musk calculated that it would have cost roughly $10,000 to use SurveyMonkey to do the survey. Under Musk's direction, DOGE aims to cut waste by $4 billion every day and cut the deficit by $1 trillion. “It is astounding how much waste and fraud there is in the government. It's incredible," Musk remarked. "We casually come across waste worth a billion dollars or more on a regular basis."

Musk claims that the survey in question asked ambiguous questions like "Do you like the National Park?" before vanishing into a bureaucratic hole, lacking any useful purpose or feedback mechanism. "It was crazy to spend a billion dollars on a basic online survey," he continued.

The startling misappropriation of public monies coincides with the Trump administration's larger initiatives to reduce excessive spending and deconstruct bloated federal programs. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), which Musk has attacked for allocating billions to dubious international projects, is one target already in DOGE's crosshairs. Musk claims that certain USAID initiatives run the possibility of being taken over by the Taliban or organizations connected to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, in addition to promoting a radical communist agenda abroad.

Many on the left have publicly criticized Musk's aggressive approach to budget reform, and Democrats have intensified their opposition to his involvement. Musk, however, is unfazed. Musk gave a confident estimate when asked if he could accomplish the lofty objectives set forth by President Trump in the brief 130-day period he has been designated as a special government employee.

"Within that time frame, I believe we will have completed the majority of the work needed to reduce the deficit by a trillion dollars," he stated. “Our objective is to cut fraud and waste by $4 billion every day. So far, we're doing well.”

The Trump administration's emphasis on eradicating long-standing inefficiencies in Washington is highlighted in the interview. The White House seems dedicated to demonstrating that private-sector rigor can bring a long-overdue audit to a government that, in Musk's words, has all too frequently "casually" spent billions, especially now that he is responsible for DOGE.
