This week, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem will visit El Salvador's Terrorism Confinement Center, which houses many recently deported Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang members. In addition to El Salvador, Noem will visit Colombia to meet with President Gustavo Petro, the first leftist president, and Mexico to meet with President Claudia Sheinbaum.
According to DHS assistant secretary for public affairs Tricia McLaughlin, Noem's visit "underscores the importance of our partner countries to help remove violent, criminal, illegal aliens from the United States." According to reports, the main purpose of Noem's trip to Colombia is to meet with President Petro and the specialist unit of the Colombian National Police that deals with fighting organized crime.
Noem is scheduled to travel to Colombia on March 27 to meet with President Gustavo Petro and the specialist organized crime unit of the Colombian National Police (CNP). On March 28, the former governor of South Dakota will meet with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum to conclude her journey to Mexico.
The visit will take place more than a week after El Salvador last weekend revealed graphic video showing hundreds of illegal aliens being herded up into jail cells and deported. The accused gang members were shown on camera holding their heads in their hands as highly armed Salvadoran police encircled them and took each one of them inside a facility.
On March 15, 261 illegal aliens were deported to El Salvador, a senior Trump administration official told Fox News. The Alien Enemies Act of 1798, which permits the removal of natives and citizens of a hostile nation without a hearing, was used to deport the majority of them. According to the official, 21 of the migrants were Salvadoran MS-13 gang members, and 101 of the migrants were Venezuelans who had been removed under Title 8. Two were "special cases" for El Salvador and ringleaders for MS-13. Deportation flights will assist Salvadoran police in "finalizing intelligence gathering and going after the last remnants of MS-13, including its former and new members, money, weapons, drugs, hideouts, collaborators, and sponsors," according to a post by Trump ally Bukele.
He continued by saying, "As always, we continue advancing in the fight against organized crime. This time, however, we are also assisting our allies, ensuring that our jail system is self-sufficient, and acquiring critical intelligence to further improve the safety of our nation. We are making all these moves simultaneously. May the United States and El Salvador be blessed by God.”
President Donald Trump commended Bukele for his "understanding of this horrible situation, which was allowed to happen to the United States because of incompetent Democrat leadership" and stated that the United States "will not forget" their relationship in a post on Truth Social on March 16.
Trump wrote, "Crooked Joe Biden and the Radical Left Democrats sent these monsters into our country." "How dare they!"
