According to a recent poll by the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, the majority of Americans do not think that former President Donald Trump breached any laws in connection with his hush money case. The poll also reveals a general lack of confidence in the impartiality of the judge, prosecutors, and jurors in this case.
Just around one-third of American adults think that Trump broke the law in the hush money scandal. 14% of respondents say Trump did nothing wrong, 31% think he acted unethically but not criminally, and 35% think he did.
Just 31% of respondents think the prosecution is treating Trump properly, and only 20% think juries and judges will be impartial.
Karoline Leavitt, a spokesman for the Trump campaign, called the trial "political persecution" and asserted that it is a component of a plot to weaken Trump's standing.
