Mask Mandates, Vaccine Passports Beginning to End in the United Kingdom
Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced today (Jan. 19th) that the health measures, known as Plan B restrictions which require vaccine passports and mask wearing, are set to end in England. According to a Rebel News report, “Johnson announced today that restrictions imposed on English citizens to “combat the Omicron the variant”, which includes compulsory mask-wearing on public transport and in shops, work from home orders and vaccine passports are to be scrapped from Thursday, January 27.”
Johnson also noted that self-isolation rules, set to expire on March 23, are on course to not be renewed as well. Noting the enormous sacrifices made by the British public, Labour leader Sir Keir Stramer supported Johnson’s decision. Other support from opposition parliamentarians included Scotland First Minister Nicola Sturgeon who also announced that restrictions brought in before Christmas are to be lifted from Monday, January 24. Johnson’s brave move sent shock waves of opposition among those who seek to unseat him from his Prime Minister position. Should the U.S. follow suit in following Johnson’s example?
