Bannon Subpoenas the Jan. 6 ‘Witch-Hunt’ Committee Members
The Jan. 6 Committee may have gotten more than they bargained for whenever they set their sites on former advisor to President Trump, Steve Bannon. Bannon’s legal team told Axios “they subpoenaed all nine members of the House select committee, as well as three committee staff, House's general counsel Douglas Letter, Pelosi, House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.)”
According to Sputnik International, “Bannon’s lawyers subpoenaed 16 lawmakers and congressional staffers to testify at the trial in July, as well as to produce relevant documents.” The report added, “Bannon’s legal team will challenge the Select Committee’s composition and motives for targeting him, as well as argue that testifying could have jeopardized the executive privilege of former President Donald Trump, the report added.
The subpoenas issued to the lawmakers requested documents related to the committee’s establishment, decisions to refer Bannon for contempt and communications with one of Bannon’s attorneys.”
Steve Bannon's gallant efforts to push back against this fiasco of a committee should definitely be applauded, despite the fact that staff members and members of the House are shielded by the Constitution’s Speech and Debate Clause. However, let’s hope that Bannon’s efforts will wake up some of the sleeping Republicans so that they can begin to push back against this Witch-Hunt committee, which was apparently created to attack conservatives!
