President Trump Wins Again In “Zuckerbuck’s” Facebook $25 Million Settlement

Donald Trump was suspended by Meta from Facebook in 2021 for his role in the riots at the U.S. Capitol on January 6. Trump responded by bringing a federal lawsuit against the corporation, alleging First Amendment violations and other issues. It appears that Trump has now won a significant victory in that case.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Meta has agreed to settle the lawsuit against Trump for $25 million, alleging "impermissible censorship."
"According to people familiar with the agreement, Meta Platforms has agreed to pay about $25 million to settle a 2021 lawsuit that President Trump brought against the company and its CEO after the social media platform suspended his accounts after the attack on the U.S. Capitol that year," the Wall Street Journal said Thursday.
The remaining amount will be used for legal fees and the other plaintiffs who joined the action, with $22 million going into a fund for Trump's presidential library. The people alleged that Meta refuses to acknowledge any wrongdoing. In the Oval Office on Wednesday, Trump signed the settlement deal.
The Wall Street Journal also reported that since Trump's November meeting with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg at his Mar-a-Lago golf club in Florida, talks surrounding the lawsuit have recently accelerated. Reports suggest that Meta arranged the meeting as part of their efforts to reconcile with Trump following his election to the presidency.
A source told the Wall Street Journal that Trump made it apparent that Zuckerberg could not be "taken into the tent" until the litigation was settled.
Trump filed lawsuits against YouTube, Twitter (now X), their parent firms, and its executives in addition to Meta. The case against Google was administratively closed in 2023, and the action against Twitter was dismissed by a federal judge.
Undoubtedly, this news ignited a plethora of emotions in the story's comments section.
"META is committed to maintaining Trump's transactional favor. It benefits business. One commenter on MSN stated, "The majority of these tech CEOs learn a lot from Tim Cook's 2017 response to Trump."
"Lawsuits have long been associated with the Trump name. He constantly seeks sympathy and attention for his complaints and tries to enrich himself at the expense of hurting and offending other people. Another person remarked, "It is a crucial tool for the horror known as Trump."
"What a world! Police officers are beaten and some are killed in an uprising that Trump incites. Trump is turned down. Trump starts a legal action. His repulsive actions are ultimately rewarded. shivering. Someone else wrote, "Trump's term cannot end soon enough."
"Well, it seems to me that Zuck is becoming closer to Trump. They were perfectly entitled to ban whoever they wished. This is a personal matter; it has nothing to do with freedom of speech. "This is him kissing and hugging Trump," another person said.
In the event that I am blocked or suspended by Facebook, I should be entitled to a $25 million settlement if I disagree with the suspension. Additionally, I can assure you that the reason for my suspension would be far less offensive or damaging than what Trump permitted to occur on January 6.
This settlement undoubtedly points to a potential step in mending Trump's and Zuckerberg's relationship.
