Guatemalan Illegal Aliens Responsible for Trafficking 20,000 Illegals Arrested

Federal agents caught illegal aliens involved in a smuggling organization that brought 20,000 people into the United States. A federal law enforcement officer and his family were allegedly threatened with decapitation by one of them. On Friday, Cristobal Mejia-Chaj, Eduardo Domingo Renoj-Matul, also referred to as "Turko," and his lieutenant were arrested. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, they have each entered not guilty pleas to several offenses pertaining to five years of migrant smuggling across the border.

"Jose Paxtor-Oxlaj, 44, a smuggling organization driver who is imprisoned in Oklahoma in connection with the fatal November 2023 car accident, and Helmer Obispo-Hernandez, 41, also known as 'Xavi,' a lieutenant in the criminal organization who is on the run, are also charged in the indictment," the DOJ release stated.

Four illegal aliens from Guatemala were detained in relation to the smuggling organization, the DOJ said. Acting United States Attorney Joseph T. McNally said they could now be executed for their role in the trafficking operation that resulted in the deaths of illegal aliens.The charges against all four men include conspiring to bring foreigners into the United States, transferring foreigners inside the country, and harboring foreigners for personal financial gain that results in death.

Helmer Obispo-Hernandez also allegedly threatened to "cut off the heads of a Homeland Security Investigations Task Force Officer and members of his family" when federal agents searched his home.

Paxtor-Oxlaj was importing illegal immigrants from New York to Los Angeles when he caused an automobile accident in Elk City, Oklahoma. Seven persons who were passengers in the automobile he was driving died in that collision. Three of the seven fatalities were children, one of whom was four years old, according to the DOJ.

Last Monday, two other illegals who were reportedly involved in Renoj-Matul's smuggling organization were taken into custody in Los Angeles.
