Are the Numbers of Illegal Aliens with Criminal Convictions Illegally Crossing the Border a Conspiracy or Real?
According to a senior Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) official, the organization's non-detained docket included hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens with criminal records.
This includes people who have been granted final deportation orders and those who have been freed from custody but are awaiting a hearing in immigration court. ICE deputy director Patrick Lechleitner stated that 425,431 convicted offenders and 222,141 people with outstanding criminal backgrounds fell into this group in a letter to Representative Tony Gonzales (R-TX). (See ICE Report)
Gonzales called the figures in the ICE study "astronomical" in an interview with Fox News. Representative Mark Green (R-TN), the chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, described the letter's contents as "shocking."
"Tens of thousands of criminal illegal aliens are being actively released by the Biden-Harris administration into our neighborhoods, a fact that is astonishing to learn about but is amply supported by their own statistics. This goes against every common sense,"--House Committee on Homeland Security
The quantity of criminal aliens on ICE's national docket was listed in a letter to legislators last week, written by Deputy Director Patrick Lechleitner of ICE. Nearly 650,000 criminal aliens were on the NDD as of July 21, 2024; this means that they had previously been dealt with by CBP, turned over to ICE, had their criminal history recorded, and were subsequently allowed to re-enter the country.
Even more distressing is the detailed breakdown of the kinds of felons who have been let free. The figures below comprise both convicted offenders and those who are still facing charges related to the particular offense. The former was superior to the latter in every category:
Homicide: 14,944
Sexual Assault: 20,061
Assault: 105,146
Burglary/Larceny/Robbery: 60,268
Traffic Offenses: 126,343
Weapon Offenses: 16,820
Kidnapping: 3,372
Commercialized Sexual Offenses: 3,971
Over 47 illegal aliens with "severe criminal history" were being detained by the Border Patrol every day by October 2023. An experienced agent stated that "at this time, there is really nothing stopping them from coming here."
