Michigan Governor Whitmer's Lock Down Tyranny Comes to an End

On Wednesday the state House led by the GOP repealed the Emergency Powers of the Governor Act of 1945 with a vote of 60-48. This act allowed governor Gretchen Whitmer to lock down Michigan indefinitely by issuing emergency declarations and setting rules to “protect life and property or to bring the emergency situation within affected areas under control.” Additionally, the state Senate also voted 20-15 to repeal the law. This follows an October Michigan Supreme Court ruling which found that the law was unconstitutional.

A citizen-initiated campaign left Whitmer powerless to veto the ruling. This is a perfect example of what can be accomplished if the American people take a stand against the growing number of Democrat governors who continue to politicize the pandemic. Fred Wszolek, the citizens campaign spokesman, said that “We're grateful to the members of the House and Senate who stood with the people of Michigan, and we're grateful for their help in repealing the misguided 1945 law that caused so much pain once and for all.”
