President Trump Donates His Salary

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer in a Monday afternoon briefing said that the President of the United States Donald J. Trump in a show of generosity has decided to donate his salary for the first four months of this year – a total of $78,333- to the National Park Service
This is every penny the president has received from January 20th. The money would be used for the maintenance and improvement of the Nation’s historic battlefields according to Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke. He further stated that the country was about $229 million behind in deferred maintenance on battlefields alone.
Although, the constitution requires he should be paid, President Trump whose annual salary is $400,000 had stated during his pre-election campaign that he would not accept a salary and this announcement is in line with his campaign promises.
Recently Sean Spicer stated that the President would not donate the money until the end of the year and that Trump had declined selecting a charity to donate money, instead asking the news media to help the president choose. However, it was confirmed on Monday, April 3, that the donation had been made and the recipient had been chosen. It was further revealed that the choice of the Park Service was made by the President himself. The donation check which listed Trump as the donor was unveiled during the press briefing.
