Auditors in New Hampshire Find Discrepancies in AccuVote Machine

Auditors in Windham for the New Hampshire election recently found discrepancies that were large enough to make an experimental confirmation of the reason for the undervotes created by the AccuVote machines. According to reports released by the auditors they explained that the “experimental confirmation that if the contest is under voted, a fold through a vote target can create a vote.”

They went on to explain, “Something we strongly suspect at this juncture, based on various evidence, is that in some cases, fold lines are being interpreted by the scanners as valid votes.” According to auditor Harri Hursti while testing folded ballots they noticed that they were misinterpreted by machines. The test decks revealed that the ballots that were folded across the vote target were misinterpreted by the machine as additional phantom votes or subtracts to the vote count due to false overvotes.

AccuVote, the company of the machines in question, declined all requests to give a comment on the matter. Something smells very fishy and it definitely is not tuna! More will be revealed soon as the audit team are sure that more issues could be involved besides folded ballots being misinterpreted.
