DeSantis Warns Local Florida Officials of Fines For Compliance with Biden’s Vaccine Mandate Orders
On Monday, Florida Gov. DeSantis issued a warning for local government officials who may be attempting to break the state’s ban on vaccine mandates in compliance with Biden’s vaccine orders. According to LifeSiteNews, “Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis threatened massive fines for local governments attempting to mandate the COVID-19 vaccine in Florida and vowed to take action against Joe Biden’s latest vaccination requirements.”
In a Alachua County news conference, DeSantis said “We are going to protect Florida jobs. We are not going to let people be fired because of a vaccine mandate.” Emphasizing the direct intent of his warning, DeSantis further stated “If a government agency in the state of Florida forces a vaccine as a condition to employment, that violates Florida law, you will face a $5,000 fine for every single violation. If you look at places here in Alachua County, like the city of Gainesville, I mean, that’s millions and millions of dollars potentially in fines.”
DeSantis went on to note that Biden’s vaccine order “is not constitutional.” He also pointed out the hypocrisy of Biden’s executive orders, as it provides “exemptions for postal workers, Congress, and federal employees outside the executive branch,” according to a Life Site news article.
