Supreme Court Puts An End to Michael Cohen’s Attempt to Sue Trump

Michael Cohen's attempt to resurrect a case against former President Donald Trump was denied by the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday. Trump and federal authorities allegedly retaliated against Cohen, a disgraced former Trump lawyer, for penning a book that was critical of President Trump. The courts have repeatedly rejected Cohen's arguments, stating that they are without legal support.

In 2020, after releasing a book that criticized Trump, his former attorney Michael Cohen sought damages for what he described as retaliatory imprisonment. After the lower courts dismissed the complaint, the U.S. Supreme Court decided that Cohen's allegations lacked legal standing under existing precedent and declined to consider the case.

According to Cohen's lawyer, the Court's denial was a "dangerous moment" for democracy, while Trump's legal team was relieved and referred to Cohen's attempts as "frivolous."
