How Well Did J.D. Vance Fact-Check the Biased CBS Fact-Check During the Debate?

During the vice presidential debate on Tuesday, Ohio Senator JD Vance's microphone was shut off following a heated argument with CBS News moderators, despite the network's prior declaration that they would not fact-check contenders during the discussion. The argument started when Face the Nation anchor Margaret Brennan questioned Vance about his remarks on Haitian immigrants in Ohio. There was a heated exchange of words until CBS decided to cut off Vance.

When immigration came up during Tuesday night's vice presidential debate between JD Vance and Tim Walz, things got really heated. In response to a query concerning the effects of illegal immigration, Vance cited Springfield, Ohio, as evidence that the flood of migrants, especially from Haiti, is overwhelming homes, hospitals, and schools in tiny American towns.

Brennan tried to fact-check Vance by asserting that "Springfield, Ohio, does have a substantial number of Haitian migrants who have legal status or temporary protected status," despite CBS's previous declaration that they would not fact-check candidates.
