Agency for International Development Shut Down as the DOGE Cleanup Continues

It appears that President Trump’s administration is fulfilling its pledge to dismantle one of the largest criminal organizations in the United States. According to reports Monday, staff members of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) had a rude surprise when they saw emails informing them that the headquarters was closed and that they should remain at home.
The email given to staff overnight stated, "On Monday, February 3, 2025, the USAID headquarters at the Ronald Reagan building in Washington, D.C. will be closed to agency personnel at the command of agency leadership."
The statement continues by stating that agency staff who typically work at USAID's headquarters "shall work remotely," with the exception of those who carry out necessary facility maintenance and on-site tasks. It also states that "further guidance will be forthcoming."
President Trump on USAID: "It has been run by a bunch of RADICAL LUNATICS, and we're getting them out ... and then we'll make a decision."
According to the Daily Mail, at least 600 employees were shut out overnight. 10,235 people were employed by it as of 2016. After previously being shut down, the official USAID government website and any links to its web pages now display the browser error notice, "This site cannot be reached."
This satisfies a pledge made by Elon Musk, the owner of X and the chairman of DOGE, early on Monday morning when he said in an audio appearance on X that the only way to proceed was to completely abolish USAID.
Musk stated, "It became clear that it is not an apple with a worm in it." "What we have is nothing more than a mess. Basically, you have to get rid of everything. It cannot be fixed. He went on, "We are shutting it down."
After attempting to prevent Musk's team from accessing sensitive material, two senior officers were also placed on leave, and shortly after, the website and the X social media account, which had one million followers, vanished. John Vorhees and Deputy Brian McGill, two officials, made up the story that DOGE staff lacked the security clearance necessary to access the secret materials.
Side Note: The recent appointment of Secretary of State Marco Rubio as acting head of USAID is a daring decision. This occurs at a time when the agency is under close investigation and could perhaps be shut down.
