WHOOPI GOLDBERG THREATENS TO LEAVE “THE VIEW” IF DEMANDS AREN’T MET ACCORDING TO A BRITISH TABLOID
A report by British tabloid Daily Mail suggests that TV star, Whoopi Goldberg will step down as the moderator of popular morning show “The View” at the end of the current season if her demands are not met by ABC.
The 61-year-old comedian and Oscar winner is demanding no less than $3.5 million to continue on the job. There are also reports that she is asking to be made an executive producer on the show.
A source also confirmed that the Emmy-winning talk show host is demanding the removal of a network executive from the show.
She wants this one ABC executive off the show,” said the source.
She blames this person for trying to turn The View into Good Morning America with the rotating hosts and contributors and doesn't want that exec involved in the show any more” the source revealed.
“So she wants to be an executive producer of the show so that she has a seat at the decision-making table and can have more control over the things going on,” continued the source.
Goldberg has had to work with nine different co-hosts since 2014. In an appearance on The Wendy Williams Show in September, Whoopi said the current season of the show, its 20th, would be her last on the daytime series.
“I have to do it, baby, because I have to go and grow,” Goldberg said to Williams. “I got stuff to do. I got movies I need to direct. I got books I got to finish.”
There are reports that Goldberg’s team have been approached by ABC news about the possibility of having her anchor the show for three more seasons.
