President Trump told Reuters in an interview last week, "I want to see peace with Israel and the Palestinians.  There is no reason there's not peace between Israel and the Palestinians — none whatsoever."

Ensuring lasting peace between Israel and Palestine is an achievement that has eluded several world and American leaders but President Trump vowed on Wednesday: “We will get it done.”

Donald Trump said, “I’m committed to working with Israel and the Palestinians to reach an agreement.  I will do whatever is necessary to facilitate the agreement.”

President Trump admitted that an accord between Israel and Palestine is the toughest deal to make and before heading into a meeting with Mahmoud Abbas, he told the Palestinian leader, “Perhaps we can prove them wrong.”

After their meeting, Trump made a pledge to support Mahmoud Abbas in being the Palestinian leader who signs his name to the final and the most important peace agreement that brings safety, stability, prosperity to both peoples and to the region.

Speaking through a translator, Mahmoud Abbas on his part reiterated his stance that his people want an independent Palestinian state with borders along the pre-1967 lines and East Jerusalem as the capital.

The Palestinian Authority leader also disclosed to Donald Trump that the people of Palestine have the utmost trust in his abilities.  He said, “We rely totally on God Almighty, then on you and we promise to be true partners to achieve a historic peace agreement.”

In return, President Trump urged Palestinian and Israeli leaders to speak in a unified voice.

“The Palestinian and the Israelis must work together to reach an agreement that allows both peoples to live, worship and thrive and prosper in peace,” Trump said.
